What started in 2010, The Cigar Authority has become the longest actively running podcast in the Cigar Industry. Over’ the year we’ve grown and our cigar is now heard all over the world thanks to apps like Podbean, YouTube, iHeart Radio, Spreaker, Google play and iTunes. It’s safe to assume we are the most listened to show on Cigars in the world. Join us as we light up two cigars from the November Care Package. […]
Over the last couple of months I’ve had the opportunity to smoke today’s cigar numerous times. The Cigar Authority offices are a short drive from the home office of Hammer + Sickle and as a result we often get to smoke with Eric Hanson (CEO) and Erik Wentworth (National Sales Manger). We’ve long been a fan of the Berlin Wall, and recently we’ve been able to smoke a lot of the Berlin Wall Box Pressed […]
It’s the day before Thanksgiving and what better way to celebrate then by lighting up a cigar that represents the New World. The follow up to the Oscuro release from AJ Fernandez was the Connecticut shade wrapper. It’s a collaboration between AJ Fernandez and his father Ismael and today’s review on The Cigar Authority. Cigar: AJ Fernandez New World Size: 6 x 52 (Toro) Wrapper: Connecticut Shade U.S.A. Binder: San Andres Mexico Filler: Nicaragua, Brazil Strength: Mild-Medium Source: AJ Fernandez The Look: The […]
We smoke a lot of cigars at The Cigar Authority and after much deliberation we have selected the Top 8 that make up the Contenders for Cigar of the Year. We will announce the winner of the 2017 Cigar of the Year on the December […]

The Oliva V Maduro is back for another go around, and this time they use the familiar 6 x 60 Double Toro size. Personally, I was hoping the company would get away from this size. For a while the cigar has highly sought after by collectors and/or cigar geeks but this size does nothing to help that in my opinion. A corona gorda would be nice or even a traditional Robusto or Toro. It feels […]
It’s that time of year when Arturo Fuente begins sending out their limited release products. While the primary focus is on the Opus X, I get more giddy when the Anejo is released. It’s a blend based on the Opus X however it features an 5 year aged Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that spends some time in a cognac cask giving it a very distinct flavor profile. Cigar: Arturo Funte Anejo Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Dominican […]
Last year just before August 8th a bunch of cigars were released to beat the deadline of August 8th, 2016 for new products in the FDA deeming regulations. One of the cigars that gathered the most attention in my neck of the woods was the Debonaire Daybreak. Now more than a year later the cigars have been released on a nationwide level by Phil Zanghi and distributed by Drew Estate. Cigar: Debonaire Daybreak Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut […]
This week on The Cigar Authority we take a trip down memory lane as we look back at the first issue of Cigar Aficianodo from 25 years ago. It’s a bit of show and tell as Mr. Jonathan is on vacation, and Ed is attending to a family related issue across the pond. How much has the cigar industry changed? You might be surprised. In the first hour we will light up a very good […]
In the 1st Quarter of 2016 Kristoff announced they would be releasing a cigar called the Kristoff Connecticut. The cigar which features an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper also has a Nicaraguan Habano binder and a filler referred to as a “Quad Dominican Habano Seed”. With the product now on the shelves of retailers we light up the Matador version of this new cigar from Glen Case.
