Changing the band is always a risky move in my opinion and at the trade show Nick Perdomo was proudly showing off the new bands for the 20th Anniversary line. Based on pictures and video, the bands are truly amazing. However, the mindset of the consumer is that a new band equals a change to the cigar. Our friends at Hammer + Sickle went through that when they removed a secondary band that denoted Icon […]
This past week Asylum Cigars debuted their medulla oblongata which features a cigar wrapped in tissue paper. Which made me realize that the CLE Prieto has been on my list of cigars to smoke from last years trade show that I have overlooked for way to long. I constantly reach for the Chele, but today I decided to cross Prieto off my list and smoke it for review here at The Cigar Authority. Cigar: CLE Prieto Wrapper: […]
The last day of the trade show we ran into a little bit of technical difficulties with the internet. As a result we have a couple of bonus videos today that we are dubbing the Lost Tapes. Just like every great rock band has a release of lost tapes, bonus sessions, demos, etc, so does The Cigar Authority. The last day of the 2017 IPCPR we stopped by at the Drew Estate booth where we […]
David Garofalo and Mr. Jonathan were in Las Vegas this week where they were performing triple duty. They got together and recorded this show live on tape to give us a first hand look at the 2017 IPCPR show from Las Vegas, Nevada. In the first hour they light up the Spirit of Art from Cuba Rica, and fill us in on what the IPCPR is all about. We hear first hand from a variety […]
Each week The Cigar Authority podcast serves up a segment called Debonaire. It was handled by Gentleman Chuck Morrison who has moved on to bigger and better things (let’s be honest, he took a step back). Nowadays, the Debonaire segment is handled by Debonaire Mr. Jonathan who was on point today at the trade show in a suit that was an awesome shade of blue (check out his Facebook page). However, the Debonaire segment is second […]
For the first time in a decade Oliva Cigars is set to release a new cigar. Originally mentioned last year as Facundo, the company ran into a trademark issue with the rum company Bacardi. Earlier this year the cigar was renamed to Giberto, the patriarch of the Oliva family. It isn’t the first time the company had a cigar with that name. The cigar is being released in in two versions the first being a […]
It’s the sophomore year for Nick Melillo’s Foundation Cigar Company. Last year the company released El Gueguense, which isn’t a name that rolls off the tongue. This year, the company releases that cigar in a Maduro blend, but the cigar while still having El Gueguense on the band it receives the primary name, The Wise Man. The cigar features a Mexican San Andres wrapper with 3 different fillers from Nicaragua. Here Nick R. Agua tells […]
We caught up our friend Manuel Inoa at the Miami Cigar & Company / La Aurora booth at the 2017 IPCPR trade show. La Aurora released the Time Capsule series earlier this year and the cigar has been well received. At the show they were showcasing the La Aurora DNA cigar called ADN Dominicana. La Aurora which is the first cigar factory often states that tobacco is in their DNA, so what better way to […]
It’s Day 3 at the 2017 IPCPR in Las Vegas and we start the day over at the Crowned Heads booth. A few weeks ago on The Cigar Authority podcast we had Jon Huber on a guest where he alluded to a new cigar coming out with the letter F. It wasn’t hard to figure out that would be the Four Kicks Maduro. We caught up with the national sales manager, Miguel Schoedel who showcased […]
When you visit the CLE booth at the 2017 IPCPR you realize one thing instantly, it’s not only insane, it’s asylum. We caught up with Christian Eiroa who goes way back with the Garofalo family as you will find out when you watch the video. Christian’s passion for the Eiroa 20 Years Colorado is unheralded as he tells us about the cigar that has been his vision for a long time. On the Asylum side […]
