Egg Harbor Township, NJ Park Smoking Ban Looming

The Township Committee of Egg Harbor, NJ which is located just west of Atlantic City is introducing an ordinance that would ban smoking at local parks. The ordinance which would ban cigarettes, cigars, pipes, electronic smoking devices and chewing tobacco would be discussed at a local hearing on December 16, 2016 at 5:30pm. On October 1, 2015 the town of Kearny passed a measure that banned all indoor smoking; despite a plea from the local VFW that said they would lose a lot of business should a ban go into effect and face the possibility of closing their doors. Kansas City, MO Raises Tobacco Purchase Age To 21

This Thursday the Kansas City City Council is set to take up a proposed ordinance that will raise the purchase age of tobacco to 21. The change is being pushed for by the Healthy KC Initiative, Chamber of Commerce and Blue Cross-Blue Shield. San Antonio, TX Bans Smoking In Main Plaza

In a move that circumvents the Democratic process, the City Council of San Antonio made changes to the municipal smoking ban without a public discussion or hearing. The council approved a ban that prohibits the use of tobacco in two of the cities highest traffic areas. It is now illegal to enjoy a legal product in the Main Plaza and Travis Park.
