Two Guys Smoke Shop Joins Veterans Fund Raising Project

PORTSMOUTH, NH – Veterans Count, a program of Easter Seals, is proud to launch their Eagle Parade fundraising project, which aims to benefit New Hampshire military members and their families. As part of this initiative, local artists are invited to get creative with four-and-a-half-foot tall eagle sculptures, which will be placed in a special exhibit and later auctioned off on Veterans Day of 2016.

The idea stemmed from a tradition known as CowParade, an international public art exhibit featuring fiberglass cow sculptures decorated by local artists and displayed in public places. The custom has been taken up by other cities and nonprofit organizations, including the Seacoast chapter of Veterans Count, who has selected the bald eagle as a symbol of great strength and beauty. All proceeds of the initiative will directly benefit New Hampshire’s military families, as 90 cents of every dollar raised will aid in providing them emergency funds and services.

Artists across the Seacoast are now welcome to submit an application for approval; visual, mixed-media, textile, pottery, jewelry and all other art forms are welcome to bring these eagles to life. Veterans Count is also seeking event sponsors, which include four levels of sponsorship. These levels offer a variety of benefits, such as print and web advertising, tickets to the Eagle Auction next November 11th, and an option to host the Auction. More on both artist submissions and sponsorships can be found at vetscounteagles.org. Join these sponsors who have currently committed to the project: McKinnon’s Supermarkets, Two Guys Smoke Shop, Dunkin’ Donuts – Hampton, Rockingham Electric Supply Company, Dominos Pizza, Recordsforce, Bottomline Technologies, Performance Business Solutions, Seacoast Harley-Davidson, Kittery Trading Post, LTC Partners, Hansa Consult North America, R.J. Finlay & Co., Cummings, Lamont & McNamee, P.A., 401 Tavern, and Service Credit Union.

To kick off the project, the Easter Seals program extends its invitation to sponsors, artists and the media to attend the Eagle Parade Project Launch party on January 14th, 5-8pm at McKinnon’s Supermarket in Portsmouth.

Conceived in 2007, Veterans Count strives to bring comprehensive, emergency aid to veterans and their families, and to provide critical and timely financial assistance and services when no other resource is available, to ensure their dignity, health and overall well-being.
