You can add Peabody to the growing list of places in the state of Massachusetts that wants to raise the tobacco age to 21. In what seems to be a growing concern for the tobacco industry, part of the reason behind the push is the growing number of teens who vape.
The measure would require people to be 21 and over to buy tobacco or e-cigarette products. The board plans to vote on the proposal tomorrow at City Hall.
If the measure passes it will go int effect 120 days after the adoption and Peabody would become approximately the 74th community in the state to pass such a measure.
