Yesterday the City Council in Pittsburgh, PA voted to ban smoking and all tobacco use at all Pittsburgh owned parks.
The measure was passed 7-1 with the lone voice of reason coming from Councilwoman Darlene Harris of Spring Hill who pointed out that the measure was unfair and that alcohol was allowed in the parks with a permit.
The measure carries no fines or penalties however tobacco users would be warned and could face forcible ejection from the park by the city police department.
The proposal needs the Mayor’s signature to become law, which is expected to happen.
