According to a published report in The Salem News, the town of Swampscott which is northeast of Boston became the 85th community in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to raise its tobacco purchase age.
The measure to raise to the tobacco age from 18 to 21 was passed via a Board of Health vote to join the Tobacco 21 movement.
The town also moved to ban smoking and nicotine products at public beach and parks within the town limits.
