On the January 24th episode of The Cigar Authority we lit up a cigar from the care package, Aganorsa Leaf Connecticut. It served as our 2018 Cigar of the Year. This past March on The Cigar Authority podcast, Terence Reilly announced that Aganorsa Leaf would be releasing a Shade Grown Maduro as part of the Signature Selection line. This caused us to have a look of confusion, as shade grown tobacco has long been characterized as light in color like a traditional Connecticut. However, after two decades of experimentation Aganorsa Leaf has perfected the process. The shade grown Maduro wrapper gets its designation during the […]
According to Eduardo Fernandez of Aganorsa Leaf, “First you crawl, then you walk and then you run. It’s a process you can’t skip or else it comes back to haunt you.” It’s some serious words to live by as we all want to run before we can walk, but until you understand the process, learn the process and utilize the process it becomes a recipe for disaster. Aganorsa Leaf is a company that is now […]
In 1998, Eduardo Fernandez went to Nicaragua with a dream: to grow the finest tobacco in the world that captured the very essence of the Cuban cigars of old. In order to do this he worked with some great tobacco people and they quickly realized they could recreate the style and aroma of Cuban tobacco with the resources available to them in Nicaragua. The tobacco that they cultivated was named Aganorsa Leaf. As a vertically […]
Casa Fernandez has a new name and look. The Miami based cigar company, owned and operated by Eduardo Fernandez and his son Max, serves as the distribution center for their eponymous cigar lines as well as the JFR, Lunatic, and Guardian of the Farm brands among others, and will now be operating under the name AGANORSA LEAF. The name change and new logo are designed to align the company with the Fernandez family’s massive leaf […]
Warped Cigars was founded in 2009 by a then 19-year-old Kyle Gellis but things didn’t fully take off until the company attended their first IPCPR in 2014. What sets Warped Cigars apart from other boutique manufacturers in my mind is they haven’t created their name on strong cigars. The future of Warped might be in danger though as none of their brands make the predicate date of 2007. Like many newer manufacturers they are taking […]
A few weeks ago on Twitter one of our followers asked for my opinion on Warped Cigars. My response was that while I have heard of the brand which is popular in social media circles I hadn’t seen them up in New England where I live. This led to the brand owner reaching out and sending some samples which have been spectacular in my opinion. Today I decided to review the La Hacienda from those […]
Casa Fernandez sent an email out to retailers today to announce the new JFR Lunatic Jackhammer which is a fully bodied cigar measuring 8 x 60 with a San Andreas Maduro wrapper. The cigars which are packaged in 35 count boxes are banded in a black and purple Lunatic cigar ring. The cigar is being described as a Full and Extra Full strength smoke that has all Aganorsa Nicaraguan filler. The cigar is expected to […]
At the IPCPR trade show in New Orleans, Casa Fernandez is debuting the Casa Fernandez Miami Aniversario 2015 in two sizes. After a brutal winter that had me thinking about Miami, the end is now in sight. With temperatures in the low 40s this weekend, I think it is safe to say here in New Hampshire that the worst of the winter is behind us. The question is how long will it take for the 8 feet of snow to melt. Today’s cigar the Miami Reserva according to the Casas Fernandez website is a super premium […]
