I am not sure how it is in your neck of the woods, but right now in New Hampshire we are stuck in a worker’s nightmare. It’s hot and sunny during the week with temperatures being in the mid 80’s here. However this weekend when I had off it was in the mid 50’s as a high with rain and overcast skies. Not exactly the perfect weather to enjoy a day off one would work […]
Cigar Review
Fact is the top three selling cigar sizes are Robusto, Toro, and Gordo. But if you look on social media it would appear the top-selling cigar sizes are Corona and Lancero. Does the social media cigar connoisseur know something you may not. Much to the dismay of our own David Garofalo I will reach for a Lancero or Corona more often than not, but why? For me the answer is the fact that the majority of the […]
The word Navetta is Italian and translates to Shuttle which ties into the fact that Omar worked on over 15 Space Shuttle mission while he worked at NASA before leaving the agency to concentrate on the cigar industry full time. Released last year at the 2017 IPCPR trade show, today we look at the Fratello Navetta Discovery which is the Robusto. Cigar: Fratello Navetta Wrapper: Ecuador Habano Oscuro Binder: Dominican Republic Viso Filler: Nicaragua (Single Origin Jalapa) Length: 5″ Guage: 50 […]
Warped Cigars is a new school brand started by Kyle Gelis, and the company has become more known thanks to the collaborative effort with Aganorsa in the creation of Guardian of the Farm. The Maestro Del Tiempo offers some similarities to that line, but with more spice. Today we review it here on The Cigar Authority. Cigar: Maestro Del Tiempo Wrapper: Nicaragua Jalapa Corojo 99′ Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaraguan Corojo 99′ & Criollo 98 Length: 6 3/8″ Ring Gauge: 42 Size: 5205 (Lonsdale) […]
Another week, another show. This week one of the cigars we smoked on the podcast was the La Gianna Havana which was part of The Cigar Authority Care Package. As has become customary we share with you an in-depth review of the Churchill which was our second cigar of the show. Cigar Review: La Gianna Havana Wrapper: USA Connecticut Binder: Honduras Filler: Honduras Length: 7″ Ring Gauge: 48 Size: Churchill The Look: The La Gianna Havana comes packaged in a red dress box, with […]
Earlier this year we had Justo Eiroa on The Cigar Authority during the official launch of the Aladino Maduro. The cigar which is available in limited numbers until the 2018 IPCPR in Las Vegas has been well received. We reviewed the Elegante earlier in 2018, and consider it one of the best Maduro Lancero cigars on the market today. Today we take a look at the Box Pressed Corona Gorda Aladino Maduro. Cigar Review: Aladino Maduro Wrapper: […]
15 years ago, Don Pepin Garcia opened his cigar factory in Little Havana, a section of Miami that is home to a large Cuban population. From his small storefront he would begin the steps at building an empire for him and his family. To celebrate, the company that is now based in Doral, another section of Miami with a factory in Nicaragua has released a cigar that is limited to just 2,000 boxes of 14. […]
While I know we just reviewed an EPC cigar on Friday, I am opting to review another one today. The EPC La Historia was released in 2014 by Ernesto Perez Carrillo. If you don’t know the name, you should as he created La Gloria Cubana from a small factory in Miami, Florida back in 1990. In 1999, he would sell his business to General cigar before leaving them in 2009 and starting up EPC Cigar […]
The ring gauge of a cigar is based on 64ths of an inch. So, 50 is 50/ 64, 52 is 52/64 and so on. So, with 3 sizes in the line all bordering on the inch mark, I guess the name only made sense. Larger ring gauges were at first thought to be a novelty but they grew in popularity much to my own personal dismay. Today we light up the E.P. Carrillo Inch and […]
On this weekend’s show we will welcome back host David Garofalo from the Tobacconist Association of America meetings that just concluded in La Romana, Dominican Republic. One of the items we found out while he was down there was that the La Flor Dominicana TAA 50th Cigar will be based on the Oro blend, however the filler will contained Criollo ’99 under the Nicaraguan Sun Grown Habano wrapper. It’s been a long time since I […]
