I am in one of the moods where I don’t know what to smoke when it comes to doing a review. I mean when I ran my old website back in the day I smoked through everything, so picking something that has been around for a while is tough because in my mind been there done that. So I asked one of my co-workers to pick out a cigar and this is the result. Not […]

This weekend I picked up a cigar that was something I hadn’t grabbed in a very long time, Davidoff Millennium. The cigar was originally released in 2001 which gives it more than enough years to be FDA compliant in terms of being pre-2007. It’s a cigar that I smoked from time to time when I lived in NYC, but over the years it fell off my radar. With my palate calibrated once again thanks to […]
As The Cigar Authority begins today we will say goodbye to the reigning cigar of the year as voted by the authority on cigars. The Recluse Amadeus Habano might have raised a few eyebrows when we named it cigar of the year but the brand saw tremendous growth during the year as people saw just how amazing the cigar was. When we come back from the break to start the second hour we will reveal […]
I’ve been in a serious funk lately when it comes to smoking cigars. I’ve had a hard time finding my comfort zone and it concerns me. You see I used to be that guy that chased everything new. Now with FDA Regulations in place nothing new has been coming out. Yes, some things have been sprinkled to the masses since August 8th, but they were all introduced prior to that point. So to me they […]
Yesterday on The Cigar Authority podcast which is embedded just below we smoked the Byron Distinguido on our Christmas show. We paired the cigar with Ron Zaya rum which made for a phenomenal pairing and helped bring out some of the subtle vanilla notes in the cigar. Cigar Review: Byron Serie Siglo XXI Size: 6 x 55 (Distinguido) Wrapper: Unknown Binder: Unknown Filler: Unknown Strength: Medium-Full The Look: The Byron Distinguido features a simpler band then the regular Byron line. At IPCPR 2016, Dion Giolito unveiled a new look for his Cruzado line of cigars. The cigars which were once packaged in the retail friendly 4 rows of 5 cigars has been replaced by a more traditional sized box with two rows of 10. Also gone is the cross on the box, replaced with hands bound together, with Cruzado above and an upside down Illusione beneath. Cigar: Cruzado Country of Origin: Nicaragua Wrapper: Nicaragua Corojo ’99 Rosado Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua Length: 6″ […]
Every so often, there comes a cigar accessory that catches my eye. I’ve seen so many different kinds of cutters, lighters, cases… All that. However, the cigar tool I’ll be talking about today is something different. A unique double action guillotine cigar cutter with serrated blades. This is the Lotus Jaws. Back during the 2015 IPCPR trade show, Integral Logistics showed off their new cutter under the Lotus brand name. It was being talked about […]
This summer of 2015 saw the launch of Foundation Cigar Company by Nick Melillo who had his career start at the retail level while living in the state of Connecticut. From here he would go on to Drew Estate where he would oversee their factory operations and he was responsible for blending Liga Privada No. 9, T52, Dirty Rat, L40, Nica Rustica as well as others. Nick would eventually leave Drew Estate to start his […]
The first snowfall of the year, and everyone forgets how to drive. To steal from comedian Vic DiBitetto, the panic sets in and everyone has to run out to get the bread and milk. Then you get the losers who drive as if they were on dry pavement only to wipe out their car along with a few other cars and put traffic in a jam. This morning, my commute which is usually 35 mins […]
