Tatuaje The Bride Cigar Review

Since 2008 there has been a cigar release that was as constant as death and taxes. It all started for Tatuaje with The Frank, and now it concludes with The Bride. As with other releases it was available in 666 dress boxes of 13 cigars and this year the 10 count non-dress box is limited to 4,500 boxes produced.

Cigar Review: Tatuaje The Bride
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 7 1/8
Ring Gauge: 49
Size: The Bride (Churchill)

The Look: Two boxes, if you were lucky enough to get one of the dress boxes it is a curvaceous looking box with 13 cigars laid out inside. Then there is the 10 count box, which I am smoking from today. It doesn’t really matter to me as the cigars are exactly the same. Thy are laid out in two rows of 5 and feature for simple Tatuaje band with the words monster and Halloween on it. it features Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that has a reddish-brown hue to it. In the hand it has an average weight, no soft spots and well packed foot.

The Notes: The cold draw of The Bride serves up some wasabi like spice with hints of mocha. The aroma off the foot has a similar wasabi like spice. Once the cigar is lit there is a subtle dark chocolate note with an abundance of pepper on the nose.

Moving into the first third of the cigar there is notes of wasabi, nuts and coffee components. My nose tingles all the way the first third fighting back the urge to sneeze from the pepper like aroma and retrohale. As the first third comes to a close a subtle caramel sweetness begins to emerge.

The caramel develops a bit more in the second half reminding me of an old Sugar Daddy candy however by the time we reach the half way point it fades away. It is however replaced by a Necco wafer, which was something I got on the first ever halloween release, The Frank. So for this reviewer the cigar has come full circle.

The last third of The Bride from Tatuaje loses the subtleties of the second third. It returns to being a pepper bomb with a subtle amount earth. The core note is wasabi that is still intense through the nose with a subtle licorice component. Well after the cigar is put down I can still feel this one on my lips.

The Finish: I’ve smoked every release of the Monster Series and while the second third of this cigar comes close to my favorite (The Frank) that’s as far as it goes. This one is a pepper bomb, and most Tatuaje fans will love it. For me it was good, but I rather have the Selection de Cazador aka brown label.

Score: 89
Price: $13.00 / $129.99
