Zino Platinum New Hampshire Exclusive Cigar Review

In 2016 Davidoff hired street artists Mike Baca & Fernando Romero to serve as brand ambassador for “The Remake” of Zino Platinum. In April of 2019 the duo who collectively make up URNY completed their artwork on the outside of Two Guys Smoke Shop in New Hampshire during a series of events.  Now, that artwork makes it to the box of this highly collectible and exclusive limited edition of 250 boxes

Cigar Review: Zino Platinum Exclusive New Hampshire

Filler: Dominican Republic, Nicaragua
Length: 5.75″
Ring Gauge: 54
Size: Toro

The Look: The box of the Zino Exclusive is a true collectors item and incorporates images synonymous with the area includes a reflection on the accent as well at the iconic old man in the mountain. It’s also the artwork that adorns the outside of the Two Guys Smoke Shop in Nashua, NH which was spray painted by the artists of URNY. The cigar features a Habano wrapper which has some veins and a nice amount of oils. Despite the foot being slightly porous the cigar is firm to the touch with a nice weight to it.

The Notes: The cold draw serves up notes of molasses which is mimicked slightly on the foot of the cigar along with a subtle raisin sweetness and a touch of earth. Once the cigar it cut and toasted the first notes are cedar and earth giving it a classic Davidoff feel.

Moving into the first third the hearty notes of oak are joined by a subtle brown sugar sweetness with a hint of fresh baked bread that didn’t split on the top. The retrohale sees the notes of oak intensified a touch of pecans. The burn line on the cigar is remarkable thin with a firm ash.

In the second third the fresh baked bread has more of a rye component to it and it serves as the dominant note. The oak transitions into cedar along with hints if earth and hay giving this cigar the feel of a Davidoff with perhaps a bit more strength in the second third. The retrohale sees the addition of subtle pepper.

As we finish the New Hampshire exclusive Zino Platinum a subtle vanilla joins the mix with hints of toasted bread, hay, cedar and earth rounding things out. The cigar has a short to moderate finish and the subtle pepper remains on the finish of this extremely balanced cigar.

The Finish: Let’s face it this release is all about the box which goes against everything I believe in (you can’t smoke the box). However, it doesn’t hurt that the cigar is a damn fine cigar. Its smooth, balanced and flavorful which is everything you want from a Zino Platinum. It’s definitely worth the hype and the price point so you might just want to pick up a box or two.
