News of a shade grown Maduro was originally broken on The Cigar Authority episode with Terence Reilly. Today, we found out more information in a press release by Aganorsa Leaf.
According to Terence Reilly, VP Sales & Marketing “This wrapper is a game changer for us and will grow our already stellar reputation for creating incredible cigars that possess a signature flavor and aroma impossible to duplicate.”
The new Aganorsa Signature Selection Shade Grown Maduro will showcase the new Shade Grown Corojo Maduro wrapper with the same internal blend as the current release, which features a Corojo ’99 binder and fillers consisting of Criollo ’98 and Corojo ’99 grown in Jalapa along with the rare media tiempo tobacco which only appears on some tobacco plants.
Eduardo Fernandez stated, “This has been a long dream of Aganorsa going back 20 years to grow and naturally ferment a maduro cover leaf from our best fields in Nicaragua. It is in honor of Arsenio Ramos and a testament to his guidance and knowledge that we are finally able to introduce a Cuban seed Corojo Maduro leaf under shade in Jalapa for the cigar lovers of Nicaraguan leaf.”
The new Maduro Shade Grown Corojo Maduro will be released to select stores in June with any of the remaining cigars made available at IPCPR in July.
It will be available in four sizes ranging from $9.99 to $10.99. The sizes will be Robusto (5 x 52), Toro (6 x 52), Belicoso (6.25 x 42) and Corona Gorda (6.5 x 44). Like the original release the Corona Gorda will feature a fantail cap, and the Belicoso will be a 109 shape.
“You will not find a Nicaraguan Puro Maduro that tastes like this one. We take pride in curing our Aganorsa Leaf grown on our best farms to use in cigars layered in balanced flavor and complexity. We chose this Shade Grown Corojo Maduro for our Signature brand because it is a rare leaf that matches the pleasant sweetness of our filler tobaccos,” said Max Fernandez.
