Another housing authority in the state of New York is banning smoking, this time it is in the state capital of Albany. In passing the ban, the Albany Housing Authority becomes the 34th in the state to do so
The new policy covers all of the 2,200 unites and will go into effect on January 1, 2016.
In order to make sure all the residents are aware of the new policy, the Housing Authority staff will go door to door to inform residents. Those who violate the new policy coming January 1st, 2016 will be subject to potential eviction.
Residents who wish to smoke, must move 25 feet away from the property in order to do so.
