Black Label Trading Company was nice enough to send out samples for a second time to The Cigar Authority, and the first go around I personally enjoyed one of the blends, but the question is which one and we will get into that a little bit later.
The company is built on attitude and philosophy according to the website. Where they believe they have rethought the standards for cigar making who are tired of the mainstream, mass produced approach. The believe less is more, small is big and that fine tobacco making is a fine art.

The Look: The beautiful box pressed cigar features a flawless maduro wrapper with some thin veins on the backside of the press and a slight brindle coloring. The band is the same as it is on all their maduro cigars, black and white with the BLTC logo that is reminiscent of the band Black Label Society. The only thing that sets this apart from other blends is the foot band that gets removed before lighting. In the hand the cigar is firm with no soft spots and a well packed foot.
The Notes: The cold draw of the cigar has some earthy components to it with a hint of caramel and little marshmallows from a hot chocolate packet. The foot of the cigar mimics that of what was experienced on the cold draw.
The first third of the Redemption from BLTC has some coffee notes with the slightest hint of chocolate that is rich and developing as the cigar progresses. The aroma of the smoke is extremely enjoyable and there is some red pepper on the backend.
Moving into the middle portion of the cigar the rich chocolate notes take hold as the focal point of the cigar with a subtle coffee on the finish. The aroma of the cigar continues to stand out and enhances the experience.
The last third sees the addition of a leather note that comes and goes with coffee and a sweet aroma. The finish of the cigars is slightly spicy and somewhat short.
The Burn: This slow burning box press needed to be relit once as we breached the last third of the cigar but part of that could of been due to neglect as it was a busy day story wise on The Cigar Authority. The thin combustion line revealed a medium gray ash that help for about a third at a time. The draw was near perfect thought at times there was a slight tightness in the last third.
The Finish: Nope, not it. The first samples we received there was one that really stood out where I wanted to buy a box but I didn’t save the foot band and I don’t remember which cigar it was. This is the issue I have with the bands of the cigar as there is no one to tell them apart once the foot band has been removed. The cigar was enjoyable with a straight forward profile and an outstanding aroma.
