CigarWorth Launches October 12th

CigarWorth Unveiled, Promising to Transform How Premium Cigars Are Valued,
Documented and Collected

Madrid, Spain -A project more than three years in the making, and what its creators believe could forever change the premium cigar industry, was unveiled today during the grand opening of the Selected Tobacco factory in Madrid, Spain.

Cigar industry veteran David Garofalo announced that CigarWorth, a groundbreaking price-guide and information platform developed exclusively for premium cigars, will officially launch on Monday, October 12, 2026, at CigarWorth.com.

“For hundreds of years, premium cigars have been made, collected, gifted, aged, inherited, smoked and admired,” Garofalo said. “Yet we have never had a trusted system capable of answering one of the most basic questions: What is this cigar actually worth?”

Baseball cards have price guides. Fine wines have provenance. Luxury watches have serial numbers. Classic automobiles have established valuation systems. Even modern trading cards and comic books have sophisticated methods for documenting rarity and value. Premium cigars, one of the world’s oldest luxury products, have never had a universal valuation. Until now.

Introducing CigarWorth

CigarWorth is designed to become the industry’s most comprehensive resource for researching, documenting and determining the value of premium cigars. It is not a cigar-review website, another online humidor or simply another cigar app. It is an entirely new category: a centralized historical and valuation platform created for cigar enthusiasts, collectors, retailers, auction houses, estates, insurers and manufacturers.

Imagine discovering a cigar that was left to you by your grandfather. Instead of searching Google, posting photographs on social media or debating its identity in an online forum, you could search CigarWorth and learn when the cigar was produced, where it was made, how rare it may be and its estimated value today.

“CigarWorth replaces generations of guesswork with organized information and meaningful data,” Garofalo said. “For the first time, we are beginning to build a historical record for the premium cigar industry.”

The October 12 launch will introduce CigarWorth Version 1.0, but Garofalo emphasized that this represents only the first stage of a much larger undertaking.

“I have worked on this project for more than three years, and Version 1.0 is finally ready to be unveiled,” Garofalo said. “I could not have reached this milestone without my partner, Aaron Williams. Together, we believe this is a monumental advancement for the cigar industry, and we have much more planned over the next several years.”

The Future: Cigar Fingerprint Technology

The long-term vision extends far beyond valuation. CigarWorth is also developing Cigar Fingerprint Technology, an ambitious authentication system intended to give an individual premium cigar its own verifiable identity. Not merely the box, not simply the band, but the cigar itself.

The vision is for a cigar to be scanned and verified at the factory, then documented throughout its lifetime. Because each handmade cigar possesses its own distinctive physical characteristics, that information could eventually provide a unique digital identity, similar to a fingerprint.

The potential impact could reach every level of the industry:
• Manufacturers could protect their products, history and legacy.
• Retailers could offer greater confidence and credibility.
• Collectors could better understand and document what they own.
• Auction houses could verify authenticity and provenance.
• Insurance companies could more accurately insure valuable collections.
• Estate professionals could properly identify and value inherited humidors.

Most importantly, this technology will help combat counterfeiting, prevent false histories from becoming accepted as fact and create a permanent record for significant premium cigars.

“For decades, people have called cigars luxury products,” Garofalo said. “I believe they have always been collectibles. We simply never had the tools to prove it.”

The October 12 launch date carries special significance for Garofalo. The date commemorates Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the Americas in 1492 – the voyage during which Europeans first encountered Indigenous people smoking rolled tobacco leaves. October 12 would also have marked the 101st birthday of Garofalo’s father.

“This date connects the discovery of tobacco by the Old World with someone whose influence helped shape my own life,” Garofalo said. “I cannot imagine a more meaningful day to begin writing the next chapter of cigar history.”

Garofalo believes the launch represents a defining moment for premium cigars and their place within the collectible world. Our hope is that CigarWorth elevates the entire cigar industry.

“One day, people will ask which cigar was the first to be authenticated, which was the first to be digitally fingerprinted and which was the first to have its entire history recorded,” he said. “We are standing at the beginning of that moment.”

“Today, we are launching a website. Tomorrow, we begin building the historical record for every premium cigar ever made.”

Garofalo concluded the Madrid presentation with a bold prediction: “One day, the cigar you are smoking will know more about itself than the person smoking it.Today is the day cigars officially become collectibles.”

CigarWorth officially launches on Monday, October 12, 2026.
