The Look: Packaged in gorgeous white boxed with the art of Olivia McGilchrist on the outside, the box top removes much like gift box and is easily hanged in your smoking cave long after the cigars are gone. Insider, the chestnut-brown Perfecto has a dual band system. The first being the classic Davidoff White Label, the secondary band has a reproduction of the art. The wrapper has a few thin veins and is exquisitely rolled although it feels light in the hand.

The Notes: Once I clip the cap I am treated to the classic cold drawn of barnyard and earth that is synonymous with Henke Kelner and Davidoff. Off the wrapper and foot of the cigar there is subtle aroma of freshly baked bread.

The perfecto tip is best lit with a single torch flame so I reach for my co-workers Colibri Eclipse lighter and once the cigar is quickly toasted and lit the initial notes that envelope the palate consists of earth and oats with a semi-sweet aroma.

As we move closer to the middle portion of the cigar the Yamasa tobacco is easily identifiable as the cigar begins to take on some similarities to the Puro d’Oro as some mineral notes develop that are also matched on the aroma. There is a subtle sweetness mixed in with earthy components on the finish of the cigar with has a slight vanilla that serves as an afterthought.

The last third of the Limited Art Edition continues to be classic Henke Kelner with notes of barnyard and earth. There are elements of oats and vanilla bean present as well. The cigar also comes off as hoppy, which makes me wonder how it would pair with a beer which doesn’t seem like something Davidoff would say. In fact in their literature they say it would pair well with a Macallan.

The Burn: If a perfecto isn’t perfectly lit, it can canoe on you or burn very uneven. However, some unevenness until the cigar works past the nipple is normal. You have no idea how much it annoys me to sit in a cigar store watching a person with a lighter tough up a perfect non-stop because it is slightly off-center. It will correct, just slow your role. The draw of the Art Edition is a little too loose for me, but the cigar if not rushed still burns a long time. The ash was dark in color but firm and the cigar remained lit from first light to last puff.

The Finish: The price is a bit hard to swallow, but the box does make a nice addition for your man-cave. But lets face it, you can’t smoke the box. Thankfully the cigar is enjoyable though I can’t see buying them on a regular basis because I don’t have a disposable income. Though these are something I might keep a few on hand for a special occasion.
