Dos Hombres Honduran Natural Cigar Review

It’s that time of year where many of us are recovering from spending too much money over the holidays. As a result sitting down and enjoying a good cigar is more difficult as cigar isn’t a need, but a want. I know this month my cigar budget is much less than in other months. So as a result we look for other options that don’t disappoint and while today’s smoke is a Two Guys Smoke Shop exclusive, I think it fits the budget and quenches the desire to smoke a cigar when the wallet is a little bit empty.

Cigar Review: Dos Hombres
Size: 5 x 50 (Robusto)
Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut Shade
Binder: Honduras
Filler: Honduras
Strength: Mild

The Look: The Dos Hombres Natural sports a Connecticut Shade wrapper that has some oils present and is flawlessly rolled. There are a few thin veins present and the simple band the adorns the cigar is red with the Two Guys logo and the words Dos Hombres. Looking at the cigar its hard to find anything wrong with it, and if you removed the band you would think this was an ultra premium smoke. The foot reveals a well packed cigar.

The Notes: The cold draw is nutty with elements of peanuts and a touch of earth while the aroma off the foot has a trace amount of earthiness to it.

Once the cigar is lit there is some notes of earth and peanuts which mimic that of the cold draw. There is also an aroma that it buttery rich much like that of baking butter cookies. On the retrohale the buttery richness is evident event more as the cigar has a long earthy finish at this point.

In the second third the nuttiness experienced in the first third remains but it moves toward the background as some notes of licorice develop. On the finish there is an element of toast and earth and is shorter in length than the initial third. The retrohale has elements of subtle spice and a slight floral component.

Moving on to the last third the licorice remains but some of the floral notes experienced on the retrohale make it on to the palate with a rich buttery finish. The finish is long and earthy.

The Burn: The draw of the Dos Hombres Honduran serves up the right amount of  resistance with low smoke production. The burn of the cigar reveals an ultra thin combustion line which showcases the aged wrapper. The light color ash holds firm for more than half the cigar. The burn was straight and the Dos Hombres Honduran remained lit from start to finish.

The Finish: Although the Dos Hombres is a bundled cigar it doesn’t come off as one right down to the amount of tobacco used. Let’s face it, many bundles are undefiled, but this long filler cigar could easily be in a box and command twice the price. The profile provides complexity and the cigar is enjoyable. Add those two items to the exceptional burn and the result is a cigar of great value.

Score: 90
Price: $3.39 each / $49.99 Bundle of 20

Cigar Notes

  • Disclaimer: Dos Hombres is a Two Guys Smoke Shop exclusive, and is a shop I work at.
  • If you removed the band from the cigar I truly believe you would have a hard time identifying this as a bundle cigar.
  • Even more so once it is smoked. I can smoke anything I want while at work, and I often reach from this and the Dos Hombres Nicaragua.
  • I paired the cigar with water
  • Smoking Time was 1 hour 50 minutes.
