Hand-rolled in Nicaragua, Mediterra Cigars are crafted to pair effortlessly with the spirits of Europe, each blend capturing the heart of Mediterranean culture. The Mediterra Santorini Blend is designed to complement crisp European white wines such as Santorini Assyrtiko, Sancerre of the Loire, Chablis from Burgundy, or even your favorite sparkling wine. It features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos.
The wrapper is a golden brown, thick and roughhewn but nearly flawless, with a subtle glossy finish.
Hay, nuttiness, and a sour cream+onion nuance open the experience. Baking spice is front and center with a creamy graham cracker note in the background, touched by hints of vanilla. Caramel and cashew notes weave in gently.
Still creamy and smooth, the pepper begins to assert itself more prominently. Cedar combines nicely with the cracker-like sweetness. Espresso and toasted pretzel notes emerge, while vanilla hints remain. Charred wood, caramel sweetness, honey, and walnuts round out this section.
Earthiness and barnyard tones mix with cedar and cracker-like sweetness. The spice mellows considerably, shifting into a sweet, smooth profile with notes of sweet bread and buttery richness. A subtle hint of lemon zest appears in the background, joined by aged tobacco character. Dessert-like impressions of bundt cake and the toasted crust of a crème brûlée close the experience.
The STARS said the Mediterra Santorini was beyond enjoyable. Construction, burn line, ash, and smoke output were phenomenal. This is a cigar that a beginner with two free hours could savor, yet it is refined enough for seasoned smokers. Part of the mind wants to smoke it quickly because it is so flavorful, while the wiser part urges you to slow down and enjoy every moment. It is absolutely box worthy and suitable for any stage of a smoker’s journey. An excellent breakfast stick, mild enough for newcomers yet nuanced and elegant for experienced palates. The dance of spice that mellows into gentle sweetness by the end truly elevates this cigar.
