Nick Melillo might not be a house hold name to most cigar smokers, but he has a following amongst cigar geeks like myself from his days at Drew Estate. Last month he announced the formation of Foundation Cigar Co. and now we have a cigar name to go with it, El Güegüense.
The name which is pronounced “El Wah-When-Say” is also a satirical drama that was the first literary work of post-Columbian Nicaragua.
The cigar features a Corojo ’99 wrapper with a binder from Jalapa and filler tobaccos Criollo and Corojo from 2011 and 2012 crop years.
The boxes of 25 cigars will be available in 5 sizes; Robusto (5.5 x 50); Corona Gorda (5 5/8 x 46); Toro Huaco (6 x 56); Churchill (7 x 48) and Torpedo (6.25 x 52) and will carry an MSRP of $9-$13.
The cigars are expected to ship to retailers in September.
