In what seems like a weekly posting, yet another community in Massachusetts is considering raising the age to purchase tobacco to 21.
A proposed ban on the sale of tobacco to those under the year of 21 years old will be the subject of the Board of Health hearing in South Hadley next week. The meeting is scheduled to take place on February 4th at 5pm inside South Hadley Town Hall which is located at 116 Main street.
The posted notice reads, “The Board of Health will hold a Public Hearing to vote on amending the minimum legal sales age in the regulations for the sale of tobacco products and nicotine delivery products. Any person interested in, or wishing to be heard on, the proposed amendment should appear.”
South Hadley, Massachusetts is home to 17,000 residents over 18.4 square miles and was founded in 1659.
