Micallef Green Toro Cigar Review

The Micallef Green Toro is the fifth release in Micallef’s acclaimed Color Series, following the Black, Blue, Red, and Purple. Handcrafted in Estelí, Nicaragua, it features a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper, a San Andrés Negro binder from Mexico, and well-aged Nicaraguan fillers.

The wrapper shows a mottled milk-chocolate brown color with a leathery, toothy texture. The cigar is well built and densely packed, with a few visible veins and an overall solid feel in the hand.

Right from the light, the cigar opens with cayenne pepper, dusty cocoa powder, wood, and almond. There’s a cup-of-French-roast-coffee quality, complete with an extra dollop of cream. Notes of dark chocolate appear underneath, backed by cedar, rye bread, buttery toast, leather, and a touch of anise and floral nuance.

The red pepper settles into a smoother white pepper. Walnut and mocha notes begin to develop, while cedar remains a steady presence. Cream and wood continue through the midpoint, joined by leather, nuttiness, coffee, and a deeper leather core as the flavors round out.

The final stretch delivers dark chocolate, cedar, coffee, and leather. White pepper, walnut, and mocha sit as undertones. Earthy mushroom and umami notes appear, along with peppery heat, white pepper, a bit of salt, and a surprising hint of lemon zest that brightens the close.

A very good cigar with excellent construction. The burn is almost perfect—straight, razor-thin, never requiring a touch-up or relight. Medium in body and strength, the cigar offers satisfying flavor without being overwhelming. The black-and-gray ash holds firm, clinging to the cherry like Velcro. This is an easy cigar to recommend to new and developing smokers thanks to its smoothness, steady transitions, and balanced profile. The draw is excellent with ideal resistance and strong smoke production from start to finish. While not overly complex, the Micallef Green Toro delivers a flavorful, enjoyable experience that is consistent and well executed.
