Released in August 2026, Micallef Orange is the latest addition to Micallef’s acclaimed Color Series. Handcrafted in Estelí, Nicaragua, the blend features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a San Andrés Habano binder with Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers.
The Micallef Orange Toro features a beautiful creamy tan wrapper with a mostly matte finish and just a slight sheen. The wrapper is smooth with clean seams and minimal veins, complemented by a nicely applied cap. The cigar feels well-packed, firm, and solid in the hand.
The first third opens with cedar, sweet cinnamon, and a bready sweetness reminiscent of BelVita breakfast biscuits. Toast, roasted nuts, oat bread, and wood are joined by honey, apple, vanilla, and a touch of creaminess. Leather, earth, hay, and citrus add depth, while spiced chai, crushed red pepper, and baking spice bring some heat. Occasional salty, vegetal, charcoal, and lightly bitter notes round out a busy opening third.
The second third settles into a balanced combination of caramel, earth, cedar, roasted nuts, and savory leather. Black tea, coffee, toast, oak, and nutmeg provide a darker backbone, while caramel butter, cashew, and mixed nuts add richness. Creamy citrus notes combine to give an occasional cream soda character, with hints of root beer and floral notes appearing along the way. Black pepper begins to build on the finish.
Cedar and leather move to the forefront in the final third as the cigar gains strength. Black pepper and cinnamon provide considerably more heat, backed by black tea, pecan wood, salt, and buttered toast. The profile becomes woodier and spicier toward the finish, with black pepper lingering after each draw.
The Micallef Orange Toro is a mild but flavorful cigar with excellent construction, an easy draw, a consistent burn, and plenty of smoke output. The profile remains balanced throughout while steadily building in strength, eventually finishing with a pronounced cinnamon and black pepper spice. Smoking it slowly helps keep the occasional bitter notes and spice in check. Approachable, flavorful, and well-constructed, it’s an easy cigar to share with a newer smoker while still offering enough complexity to keep an experienced smoker interested.
