News | 5th Annual Legal NYC Outdoor Smoke

The city of New York banned smoking in parks, beaches, and in Times Square five years ago. However, there is one place you can still legally smoke in a park, and that is Paley Park.

This Friday, May 22, 2015 starting at 5pm you are invited to join William C. Paley. La Palina Cigars and Cigar Rights of America for this special event.

To attend the event you must be at least 21 years of age or older and show a receipt from a  New York City tobacconist dated between May 19 – 22, 2015.

Paley Park is located at 3 East 53rd Street (between Fifth Avenue and Madison) New York, New York, 10022.

Some of you might ask, why is it legal to smoke in Paley Park and that is because it is a privately owned park. The story as it was told to me has the father or grandfather of Bill Paley going to a club and being denied entrance. Because of this Paley bought the building that housed the club, tore it down and put a park in its place for everyone to enjoy.

I attended the inaugural event 5 years ago and you can spot me in the photograph below.
