Day 5 Today we will take a walk to Old Havana Square. We met in the Hotel lobby to start our day. As we approach the area I notice the streets are crowded with people dancing in the street. The streets are paved with what looks like bricks but a closer look shows they are not bricks but wood blocks stained with brick color. In the town square the road turns to a circle with […]
The other day in a Facebook conversation about box-press Cigars on the Two Guys Smoke Shop page, Mr. Jonathan mentioned the Hermitage being one of his favorite box-pressed cigars. As luck would have it Erik Wentworth from Hammer + Sickle cigars stopped by and handed me the cigar that will be used for today’s review. According the their website, “A medium to full body cigar Hermitage No.1 delivers distinct complexity, and is truly a smoke that […]

Day 4 We were up bright and early for a little Cuban Coffee and a Cuban Cigar before hitting the road back to Havana. The first stop was the El Laguito Factory, the birthplace of Cohiba which was in 1968. A palace of a building, looks kind of like an old Southern Mansion which was unquestionably the most impressive looking cigar factory from the outside thus far for sure. This is where Cohiba, Behike and […]
On Thursday the Seattle Democrat Mayor Ed Murray’s administration announced that it is asking the Board of Park commissioners to approve a law that would ban smoking in all public parks. The Emerald City currently has a ban which prohibits any tobacco use within 25 feet of other park patrons as well as in play areas, beaches and playgrounds. The new rule would result in a warning at first but multiple offenses could include exclusion […]
The development of the Punch Signature began in 2012 when Punch Master Blender Agustin Garcia and his team came across a small batch of Ecuadorian tobacco they wanted to use. Worried they wouldn’t have enough to produce a new line they worked with a grower to cultivate special Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper exclusively for this cigar. According to General Cigar the parent company of Punch, the filler leaves are of the same variety of the original […]
Ocean City, Maryland has finalized a beach smoking ban that will prohibit you from lighting up on the majority of the beach or boardwalk. The new restrictions now require you to stand at the back of the beach near the dunes, or keep within 15 feet of a Boardwalk ashtray. The new law comes with a $500 fine for violators although the rule is expected to be self-policed. The measure was passed into law on […]
Trip to Cuba – Day 3 I got up in plenty of time for breakfast and decided not to go off on my own in this city. I took the opportunity to talk with the waitress a bit because she spoke better English than I did Spanish. She seemed happy and said so… she liked her life in Cuba and the closeness with her family and neighbors. Although she had never been to the United […]
The Avo line underwent a transformation earlier this year with a redesign of the box and label. The blends are said to have remain the same, but having not smoked them in a while they come off as new and worthy of a review. According to the Avo website where they write about the XO, “Avo’s legacy captured in every format, with tobacco aged for at least six years, artistically woven into each cigar. A […]
