The Perdomo Legacy Connecticut Epicure represents the first blend spearheaded by Nicholas Perdomo III, developed over five years as a tribute to his father’s influence and the Perdomo family tradition. The blend features 10-year-aged Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that undergo eight months of bourbon barrel aging, laid over Nicaraguan Shade-Grown binder and premium fillers from the family’s farms in Estelí, Condega, and the Jalapa Valley.
Visually, the cigar carries a silky, golden Connecticut wrapper with a soft sheen and a few visible veins. It feels firm and densely packed in hand. Once lit, the burn line forms cleanly and produces impressive, tightly stacked ash.
The first third opens with a smooth wave of sweet vanilla creaminess and almond butter richness. Cedar and light woody notes frame the profile, while a restrained touch of black pepper provides balance. A sourdough bread character develops alongside sweetcorn and subtle lemongrass undertones. Hints of cola and raisins add nuance without overpowering the mild-to-medium body.
In the second third, the pepper softens but leaves behind a gentle lingering spice. Bread notes continue, now accompanied by caramelized sugar, praline, and hazelnut. A faint leather component enters the mix, and a slight citrus brightness keeps the sweetness crisp and defined. The bourbon barrel influence begins to subtly emerge, enhancing the blend’s depth.
The final third introduces added barnyard earthiness as the woody tones and spice tick upward slightly. Bourbon notes become clearer, joined by roasted peanuts and a hint of coffee. The bread transitions into a toasty expression, layered with buttery salted toffee and a light spritz of lemon. Delicate floral notes linger on the finish.
Overall, this cigar delivers the hallmark smoothness expected from a classic Connecticut wrapper while offering more flavor complexity than most CT wrapper cigars. Construction is excellent throughout, with even burn, strong smoke output, and steady performance. It’s an ideal choice for a morning smoke or as a companion to coffee, offering balanced sweetness, layered flavor, and refined character. This is a Connecticut worth revisiting.
