Perdomo Legacy Maduro Epicure Cigar Review

The Perdomo Legacy Maduro Epicure is the result of a long, deliberate process, with five years of development behind the blend. It features a 10-year-aged Cuban-seed Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper that undergoes bourbon barrel aging for at least 14 months, wrapped around a Nicaraguan shade-grown binder and rich Nicaraguan fillers sourced from the Perdomo family’s finest farms in Estelí, Condega, and the renowned Jalapa Valley.

The Perdomo Legacy Maduro Epicure features a dark chocolate brown wrapper with a matte sheen and a noticeable toothy, oily texture. Light veining runs throughout the leaf, giving the cigar a rustic yet refined look that feels true to a traditional Maduro presentation.

The cigar opens with a pop of pepper on the light that fades fairly quickly, transitioning into a more earthy profile. Early flavors include muddy earth, fresh tobacco, and dry cocoa, accented by hints of cinnamon and subtle sweetness. Notes of dark chocolate and graham cracker emerge alongside leather, nutmeg, and a faint touch of hickory smoke.

As the cigar settles in, the profile becomes richer and more layered. Chocolate rice-crispy notes mix with cherry and raisin sweetness, while pepper and cinnamon continue to linger in the background. Earthy and mineral-driven flavors dominate, joined by straight tobacco, dry leather, cocoa, and rich cedar. Hints of lightly roasted coffee and floral tones appear, followed by a savory character reminiscent of hay and smoked beef stewed with red wine, peppers, and a touch of plum sweetness.

The final third remains consistent with the middle portion, leaning into leather, rich cedar, fresh earth, and black pepper. Accents of cocoa and roasted coffee round out the profile, maintaining an earthy core through the finish.

Overall, this cigar shows a slightly intensifying flavor progression from start to finish, with deeper, darker, and bolder notes developing as the smoke goes on. The profile offers good depth and interesting complexity, delivering a smooth and tasty smoking experience. This is a maduro STARS would consider when looking for something balanced and approachable throughout despite the strength score given, with sweetness nicely countered by salt, wood, and earth. Construction feedback varied from STARS, with some experiencing flawless draw and burn while others needed occasional touch-ups. All things considered, this is a solid, medium-bodied cigar with enjoyable, non-overwhelming flavors that STARS would happily smoke again and could see working into regular rotation.
