Byron
A few moths ago two new sizes of the Byron were introduced and we reviewed the Gran Poemas. Today we follow it up with the Byron Habaneros a 6 x 56 Serie Siglo XX. Each Byron cigar is said to be blended like a Cuban cigar from a specific century and this one is modeled after the 20th Century. In the past we have reviewed the Londinenses and totally loved it so today’s cigar comes with high […]
According to the Bandolero website; “Cigar history has followed a difficult path between crime and pleasure. Demonized on arrival to Europe, in which latter tobacco trade was monopolized. The success of the tobacco expansion is explained by the attempts of [being] controlled.” This past weekend Nelson Alfonso was a guest on The Cigar Authority where it was disclosed that the smaller the size, the stronger the cigar and David Garofalo told me to try the […]

According to the Byron Website, “In the mid 19th Century, Jose and Eusebio, cousins and offsprings of immigrants from Canary Island owned a small cigar factory with about 12 employees on Macías Street of Santiago de Las Vegas, a province of Havana. Their cigars were made from the leaves cultivated in two small tobacco plantations of their own inherited from their parents located 25 kilometers apart from each other. One was located in the town […]

Nelson Alfonso is an artist from Cuba who is responsible for the Behike design, but he is also a cigar manufacturer with brands made in Costa Rica. Available as the Pack II (lighter wrapper, medium body) and the Pack III (medium-full, darker wrapper) the sticks have […]

What cigar does one smoke on their birthday, there were a few options but when it came down to it I reached for a Byron Petit Poemas. Made by Selected Tobacco and distributed by United Cigar, the cigar is the brainchild of Nelson Alfonso. In fact, yesterday we smoked the Atabey and today the Byron all that remains is the Bandolero, and tomorrow we might have to complete that hat trick. The cigars come in […]
It’s the time of the year where people ask me what my cigar of the year is, and while this cigar wouldn’t be eligible since it has been on the shelves for a couple of years the Byron would easily be in my Top 2 Cigars smoked. Each size of the Byron is a different blend to reflect a specific era of Cuban cigars. We reviewed the Londinenses and gave it a 98 back in September. […]
