In 2018 the CLE Prieto gets a line extension with the release of the box-pressed Diadema. The brand debuted along side Chele in 2016 at TAA although they weren’t TAA Exclusives. Themes were an interesting take on light and dark wrappers as Chele, which is slang for light-skinned and Prieto, which is Spanish slang for dark-skinned. Cigar Review: CLE Prieto Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua Length: 7″ Ring Gauge: 52 Vitola: Diadema The Look: The box pressed Diadema comes in 10 count […]
Since 2008 there has been a cigar release that was as constant as death and taxes. It all started for Tatuaje with The Frank, and now it concludes with The Bride. This weekend on The Cigar Authority was our annual conspiracy theory show. It’s a show where we talk about where cigar companies could be sold and to whom. It’s entirely hypothetical although each year we manage to get one right. On the show we smoked two cigars from the Care Package. On Saturday we shared our review of the Aladino Maduro, today we offer up our Lunatic Review. Cigar Review: JFR Lunatic Wrapper: Ecuador Habano Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua […]

Cigar Review: La Flor Dominicana IPCPR Exclusive Wrapper: Ecuador Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Dominican Republic (Inclusive Habana 2000) Length: 9.5″ […]

The name Atabey has ties to the Taino Indians and the cigar culture. It all began with Cohiba which referred to the circle the tribe would gather in to pray. They would offer their prayers to the leader known as Behike who in turn would deliver those prayers to the Goddess Atabey. Atabey Cigars comes to us from Nelson Alfonso and is made in Costa Rica where the blend is only known by a select few. […]
When it comes to cigars, there is only one company that can pull off a name like Nasty Fritas. The latest Unico series release from Drew Estate is described as a conical vitola. The name translates as, Nasty to Fry which doesn’t sound inviting from a purist stand point. But then again, Drew Estate isn’t a purist type of company. Cigar Review: Liga Privada Unico Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Binder: Brazilian Mata Fina Filler: Nicaragua Length: 4″ Ring Gauge: 52 Size: Nasty Fritas (Pyramid) The Look: Packaged in […]
If you follow Social Media or are a fan of Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust you’ve heard of the Unicorn. According to Saka, “It is a very very very small project I undertook after having experienced smoking some of those $250 – $2,000 cigars that have been proliferated into the marketplace in recent years. Some by legit makers, others by not so legit.” Saka hand sorted 6,000 pounds of Broadleaf wrapper and Nicaraguan fillers […]
When you mention Ernesto Perez Carrillo today, the first thing you thing of is big ring cigars like INCH. For those who have been smoking as long as I have, EPC is The Godfather of cigars. It was his company, El Credito in Miami that created the Dominican version La Gloria Cubana before it was sold to General Cigar. Today EPC continues to do his thing with a company based in Miami and cigars made in […]
