A friend last night asked me what I think about Kristoff Cigars, and for the most part I am a fan. I love the Pistoff Kristoff (93 Rated) and the Kristoff Connecticut (95 Rated), but I have never reviewed today’s cigar, Kristoff Criollo. According to the Kristoff website, “Kristoff Criollo is made in the spirit of an elite Cuban cigar, the Kristoff embodies the taste and richness a true aficionado is looking for. With a rich oily […]

Having lived in different parts of the United States I’ve always been surprised by how many region specific cigars there are. It’s not by design, but there are some cigars that sell well at one shop, that are very hard to find in another city. One of those is Fleur de la Reine a cigar that’s distributed by United Cigars . It does very well where I work but finding them in Miami or NYC […]
My Friday’s are spent with one of the softest spoken, nicest gentlemen around who serves as the producer for The Cigar Authority podcast. Upon walking in to the office, Ed Sullivan announced that today we are smoking the Padron 1964 Anniversary Series Presidente Maduro. Not being one to argue, I graciously accepted his offer and the decision on what to smoke today was made. Cigar Review: Padron 1964 Anniversary Square Tube Wrapper: Nicaragua Binder: Nicaragua […]
At the 2017 trade show the Plasencia family decided to step into the limelight after making cigars for many superstars in the industry. Having 5 generations of experience dating back to 1865 in Cuba the company today makes 35 million cigars at their crop to shop operations in Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama. The name Alma Fuerte translates to Strong Soul and I first tasted the cigar in Miami at The Tank Brewing with national […]
Around noon today a customer called up the shop to order some cigars and instead of ordering a box of his usually, he ordered a box plus one. However, he told me not to ship the cigar that he wanted me to smoke it instead. I told him I couldn’t do that, but he said if I shipped him the extra cigar he would just ship it back to me. As much as I want […]
What do you smoke the day after Tom Brady leads a come from behind victory to advance to the Super Bowl and you feast on jambalaya left overs from the game? We opted for the Padron Family Reserve 46 Years Maduro. It’s a limited production cigar from Nicaragua, that features aged tobacco that is 10 years old and was released in 2010 while Jose Orlando Padron was celebrating his 46th year in the cigar industry. […]
The first release of the Muestra de Saka sold out in nearly the blink of an eye. Now the Muestra de Saka returns with a new size and a new blend. The name Nacatamale is a reference to a traditional food found in Nicaragua that is often reserved for a mid-morning Sunday meal. The release this time around is limited 2250 boxes of 7, for a total of 15,750 cigars. Cigar: Muestra de Saka Country of […]
Mention the word Candela and most people cringe at the thought of smoking a cigar with a green wrapper. It’s long been associated with having a vegetal component, but in recent years that has begun to change. It’s made a bit of a comeback especially as St. Patrick’s Day comes closer. Companies like Illusione, La Flor Dominicana and RoMaCraft have made great candela’s. So much so, they now get a limited release throughout the year […]
I returned last week from a stay-cation to a series of events with Nick Melillo from Foundation Cigar Company. At the events, he soft launched his new Wise Man Maduro as a follow up to the original El Gueguense and I couldn’t help but grab a few. Needless to say this is all I have smoked since Friday, and it just might be the best release from Nick R. Agua. If you haven’t checked it […]
The Davidoff Master Selection 2013 created a renewed interest for me in Davidoff cigars. The cigar absolutely blew me away and as a result it scored a 97. This month and for the next few months Davidoff will release a limited Edition Master Selection. August sees the release of the 2010 Edition and we can only hope it continues the path set forth by the 2013 which was the blend for Eladio Diaz’ 60th birthday. […]
