The cigar world celebrated history in the making as Montecristo Cigars was unveiled as the 2026 Inductee into The Cigar Hall of Fame during a live ceremony at the New England Cigar Expo before a crowd of more than 500 passionate cigar enthusiasts.
Since formed in 2023, The Cigar Hall of Fame exists to honor cigar brands that have left an indelible mark on the industry. With a permanent home online at TheCigarHallOfFame.com, the Hall serves as a living digital archive, preserving stories, images, and videos of the icons that have shaped the cigar world for over a century.
Montecristo Cigars, founded in Havana in 1935 by Alonso Menendez and named after Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo. Over the next 90 years, Montecristo grew into one of the world’s most recognizable cigar names, enduring revolution, exile and expansion beyond Cuba while remaining a benchmark in premium cigars.
With this induction Montecristo, join an elite circle of icons already enshrined in the Hall of Fame, including Cabañas, Cuesta-Rey, Davidoff, Perdomo, La Flor Dominicana, and Rocky Patel.
The Cigar Hall of Fame exists to celebrate the history, craftsmanship and lasting impact of the brands that built the premium cigar industry. From Havana in 1935 to humidors around the world today, Montecristo’s legacy now has a permanent place in The Cigar Hall of Fame.
Nominations are now officially open for the Class of 2027, inviting cigar lovers and industry leaders to submit the next round of worthy legends for consideration.
