Celebrating the tradition that began in 1992 by Two Guys Smoke Shop, The Cigar Authority is delighted to announce the prestigious title of “The Cigar of the Year” for 2023, awarded to the Micallef Black Toro.

Measuring 6 inches in length with a 52-ring gauge, the Micallef Black Toro captivates with its understated elegance. Launched in 2023, the Micallef Black extends the Micallef portfolio with a full-bodied offering at an affordable price point.

The creation of Micallef Black represents three years of dedicated effort and strategic planning. Micallef Cigars committed to an all-in approach, investing substantially in high-grade tobacco, and simultaneously increasing production at their factory in EstelĂ, Nicaragua.

Reflecting on the 32 years of announcing “The Cigar of the Year,” David Garofalo, founder of Two Guys Smoke Shop and host on The Cigar Authority, remarked, “There is only one, number one each year, and that goes to Micallef cigars.” Congratulations were extended to Al Micallef, Amanda Micallef, Dan Thompson, and the entire Micallef cigar team in Texas, the Ambassadors throughout the world, as well as the Sanchez family and all those associated with this exceptional Nicaraguan cigar.
