The city of Malden left it up to the people in the mid-term election as a smoking ban was placed on the ballot. The ban which restricts smoking in public areas within the city passed with 52% of the vote. The Oakwood city council has passed a smoking ban on all city owned property. The measure was passed on Monday and it include all city property, including parks. This is the first anti smoking legislation in Montgomery County, but the county health officials hope it will lead to other municipalities within the county. Oakwood, Ohio is home to 9,200 residents over 2.1 square miles and was founded in 1908.

The city of Muskogee, Oklahoma is taking steps to enact a new ordinance that would ban smoking on property owned by the city. The move was made at the request of local health officials in order to guarantee eligibility for future grants. The new ordinance is scheduled to take effect January 1st, 2016. The Athens City Council is set to introduce a new ordinance that will make parks, recreation facilities, restrooms pavilion, hiking trails, and parking lots tobacco-free. The proposal will be unveiled for a first reading tonight. The ban would include cigars, pipes and chewing tobacco. The Board of Health of Natick, Massachusetts is considering updates to its tobacco regulation, following the trend elsewhere in the state. The changes would limit the sale of tobacco products by prohibiting pharmacies from sell them, raising the age from 18 to 21 and banning sales of flavored tobacco.
