Crux Marblehead

Crux Marblehead Maduro Toro Cigar Review

Released in the spring of 2026, the Crux Marblehead Maduro is the sequel blend in the Marblehead line launched by Crux last year. The line is built around its signature Marblehead cap, a classic 109-style shape that combines the look of a belicoso with a traditional rounded cap. Crafted at Tabacalera Pages de Nicaragua S.A., the Marblehead Maduro features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Nicaraguan tobaccos for a bolder Maduro expression that the original.

The Crux Marblehead Maduro Toro wears a dark chocolate-colored wrapper that is smooth, oily and firm to the touch. Some veins are visible across its rugged-looking exterior, while the cigar feels densely packed with no noticeable soft spots. The distinctive bullet-shaped Marblehead cap immediately stood out, with some STARS reviewers recognizing the cigar before it was even lit.

The Marblehead Maduro immediately delivers a peppery kick alongside savory BBQ wood smoke. Jalapeño-like spice joins earth, mushroom, salt and leather, while coffee, milk chocolate and dark espresso add richness. Some reviewers picked up charred meat and hearty beef flavors with oak, balanced by touches of raisin sweetness and lemon peel. As the first third develops, the profile settles into a combination of earth, mineral, must and leather.

Leather remains a central flavor as the cigar moves into the second third, joined by cocoa powder, graham cracker, earth and must. Cayenne spice provides some heat while hints of caramel bring a touch of sweetness. Green pepper emerges subtly in the background along with black licorice and a slight nuttiness. The tobacco takes on a smoother, well-aged character while maintaining a flavorful, substantial mouthfeel.

More sweetness begins to peek through in the final third as leather is joined by black tea, wood, hay, cedar and white pepper. Reviewers also noted smoked cream pie, coffee and herbs with a light floral quality. Earth, leather and dark cocoa remain at the core of the profile, while dark berry flavors linger in the background alongside a continuing peppery finish.

The Crux Marblehead Maduro Toro proved to be a savory, rich and well-constructed cigar that favors balance over brute force. The distinctive shape was a hit with the STARS reviewers, while the draw produced plenty of smoke and the burn remained nearly flawless from start to finish. An aggressive opening eventually gave way to smooth transitions built around a consistent core of earth, leather, cocoa and spice. Medium to medium-full in body, it delivered plenty of flavor without becoming overwhelming. Overall, an enjoyable and flavorful Maduro with excellent construction, a unique presentation and enough complexity to keep things interesting from start to finish.
