Today on the Cigar Authority we celebrated Dos Hombres Day, where Dave informed us of the history of the cigar that was part of The Cigar Authority Care Package. As has become customary we offer a full review of the smoke that was part of the February care package.

The Look: The Dos Hombre Cabinet comes packaged in cabinet style boxes of 20 and are a Honduran Puro. The light wrapper has a nice golden hue to it with some noticeable veins. In the hand the cigar is firm with no voids of tobacco and an average weight. The band of the cigar get an update from the bundle version which features the Two Guys logo whereas the Cabinet band features a illustration of “Dos Hombres” enjoying a cigar.
The Notes: The cold draw of the Honduran Cabinet has a cherry sweetness to it, with a touch of wheat. The aroma off the foot of the cigar serves up earthy with a hint of white pepper. Once the cigar is toasted and lit the first couple of draws reveal notes of wheat.
Moving into the first third the wheat notes continue before being joined by hints of cedar and a subtle vanilla component. As the first third comes to a close there is a subtle hint of clove while the retrohale is extremely smooth with hints of caramel.
In the second The caramel sweetness from the retrohale begins to emerge the palate with notes of wheat and cedar in the background. There is still some subtle clove notes with some growing notes of pepper especially on the retrohale.
The last third of the Dos Hombres Honduran Cabinet has a nice mixture of spice, earth and a subtle sweetness that rounds things out. The long finish features notes of pepper on the retrohale and wheat on the finish.
The Finish: Coming in at under $5 a cigar when bought by the box one cannot deny the value of this cigar. It has a nice profile that offers a bit of something for everyone. Its medium bodied and smooth and definitely worth having around for mowing the lawn or just relaxing with the newspaper (does anyone other than me still read a newspaper?)
