Law | Garfield, NJ May Raise Smoking Age

Add another municipality to the list that wants to change the legal age to purchase tobacco products to 21 as Garfield, NJ introduced an ordinance at a previous meeting of the City Council.

The proposal to raise to the legal age will be discussed at a public hearing before  vote is taken place on April 14th at the City Council meeting where it is expected to pass.

The current legal age in the state of New Jersey is 19 years of age however many municipalities have been raising the age to 21.

Garfield, NJ is home to  31,000 residents over 2.16 square miles and was incorporated in 1898.
