Mobile, AL Expanding Smoking Ban

The city of Mobile, Alabama saw the City Council extend its smoking ban from restaurants to all city-owned or operated premisses including parks and public libraries. The ban also includes a 50 foot buffer zone.

The ban which includes cigars was voted on by the City Council and saw one vote against the measure.

The comes three years after the City Council approved a ban that included most public places including restaurants but excluded bars.

According to a report on Councilman Fred Richardson states, “In your car and your house and your yard, you can smoke all you want to smoke,we’re not trying to have no war against people smoking. It’s where you smoke.
