Raíces Cubanas Liga De Reyes Toro is one of the debut blends from the Raíces Cubanas brand, introduced in late 2024 and handcrafted with a Honduran wrapper over a double binder from Honduras’ Jamastran Valley and Estelí, Nicaragua, finished with Honduran fillers.
The cigar presents an attractive medium to dark brown wrapper with a rich fudge-like color and a subtle oily sheen. Slight veins are visible, though the seams are impressively well hidden. Firmly packed with an excellent overall presentation, Liga De Reyes immediately gives the impression of quality craftsmanship.
The opening draws are centered around rich chocolate and roasted coffee, layered over an earthy foundation with cedar. As the cigar develops, subtle notes of cherry emerge alongside unique flavors reminiscent of barbecue seasoning, paprika chips, rye bread, cashews, graham cracker, fig newton, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Despite the wide range of flavors, the profile remains balanced and approachable.
The middle portion shifts toward a slightly bolder profile as black pepper becomes more noticeable. Chocolate and coffee remain core flavors while almonds, vanilla, peanuts, light cream, nougat sweetness, and hints of barbecue spice round out the experience. The transition is smooth, adding complexity without overpowering the palate.
The final third leans further into spice, with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove taking a more prominent role alongside enhanced earthiness. Coffee becomes the dominant flavor as the earlier chocolate notes evolve into a creamy profile reminiscent of Baileys Irish Cream. Almonds remain present, and a touch of cherry returns near the finish, creating a satisfying and flavorful conclusion.
Raíces Cubanas Liga De Reyes Toro delivers a consistently enjoyable smoking experience from start to finish. The flavor profile offers plenty of complexity while remaining smooth, balanced, and never overwhelming. Construction was outstanding throughout, producing an effortless draw, straight burn line, sturdy ash, generous smoke output, and an inviting aroma. With its approachable strength, excellent craftsmanship, and rewarding flavor transitions, Liga De Reyes is an easy recommendation for both newcomers and seasoned cigar enthusiasts alike.
