Delaware Governor Signs Tobacco 21 Law

Delaware Democrat Governor John Carney has signed a bill raising the legal age to purchase tobacco products in the state from 18 to 21. The bill S.B. 25 was passed by the Delaware House of Representatives earlier this month by a 25-16 vote which was preceded by the senate passing the same bill in mid-March by a 14-6 vote. The state of Delaware has joined the ranks of states looking to raise the tobacco purchase age to 21. SB25 would restrictsaccess to tobacco products and tobacco substitutes to individuals under age 21 by doing all of the following: 1. Tonight, September 8th, 2014 the City Council of Lewes, DE meets to discuss an expansion of the existing smoking ban to include Public Beaches. On Thursday Night, October 2nd the Wilmington city county will convene with the purpose of making a decision on banning smoking at covered bus stops and city parks. Law | Wilmington, DE Expanding Smoking Restrictions

On July 30, 2014 the city of Wilmington, DE gave notice that it was looking to expand smoking restrictions in the city. The city asked residents for comments on the proposal via email, Facebook and Twitter. Despite recent reports questioning the effects of second-hand smoke, Kent County officials in Delaware are looking to ban smoking in parks.
