The Montana features a dark brown, toothy wrapper with an attractive oily sheen. Well-packed and sturdy in the hand, the cigar makes an excellent first impression.
The cigar opens with rich dark chocolate, molasses, leather, and bold coffee notes reminiscent of bitter espresso. White pepper, cinnamon, and mild red pepper provide a subtle kick, while brown bread, nuttiness, clove, and herbal tea add complexity.
Rich wood and leather take center stage as black pepper steadily builds. Dark chocolate remains present alongside chestnut and walnut nuttiness, complemented by sweet corn, earthy floral and herbal notes, and a subtle citrus-like sweetness akin to Fruit Stripe gum.
The pepper and strength intensify, introducing rich earth, charred steak, and a pleasant bitterness. Dark molasses, chocolate, and raisin sweetness balance the woody profile, while red pepper and baking spices lead into a lingering leathery finish.
The Tatanka The Montana Robusto delivers an excellent smoking experience from beginning to end. Rich, complex, and exceptionally well-balanced, it offers full flavor without relying on excessive strength. Outstanding construction, a consistent burn, generous smoke production, and an excellent retrohale further elevate the experience. A box-worthy cigar that pairs beautifully with a cup of coffee.
