PDR El Vinyet Robusto Clasico

The PDR El Vinyet Robusto Clásico is part of the limited-production El Vinyet Cuvée Especial line, showcasing the craftsmanship and passion of master blender Abe Flores. Handcrafted at the PDR factory in the Dominican Republic, each cigar is personally hand-bunched by Flores before being finished with an Ecuador Habano Oscuro wrapper over an Indonesian binder and a blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and U.S. tobaccos.

The El Vinyet Robusto Clásico features a light brown, coffee-with-cream-colored wrapper with a slight glossy sheen and minimal visible veins. The cigar is densely packed and firm to the touch, feeling surprisingly substantial in the hand for its ring gauge.

Right out of the gate, the cigar delivers a distinct raisin toast flavor alongside a savory umami character and a touch of sweetness on the finish. White pepper provides some spice, while notes of chestnut, molasses, peanuts, bourbon, cinnamon, cedar, and bread add depth. A subtle hint of fruit occasionally works its way into the profile.

Moving into the second third, hints of barbecue and fire-cured tobacco become more noticeable. Cinnamon spice, vanilla, and toast remain present, joined by toasted almonds and touches of white pepper and salt. The overall profile stays relatively consistent with the opening third, but these added savory and toasted elements help keep the experience interesting.

The final third becomes richer, bringing forward milk chocolate, espresso, leather, and earthy flavors. The savory umami quality remains, while the spice picks up alongside caramel sweetness and baking spices. Cinnamon and graham cracker notes round out the profile as the cigar approaches its finish.

The PDR El Vinyet Robusto Clásico delivers a good draw, excellent flavor, and stellar construction. The ash held well beyond the first third, while the combustion line remained impressive throughout the smoke. Although there aren’t a lot of dramatic transitions, the variety of flavors within its core profile keeps the cigar interesting from beginning to end. Smooth, balanced, and milder than its darker appearance might suggest, this is an excellent cigar that would be especially enjoyable in the morning alongside a cup of coffee. It’s an easy cigar to recommend and one the STARS reviewers would gladly smoke again.
