Debonaire Daybreak Robusto Cigar Review

Last year just before August 8th a bunch of cigars were released to beat the deadline of August 8th, 2016 for new products in the FDA deeming regulations. One of the cigars that gathered the most attention in my neck of the woods was the Debonaire Daybreak. Now more than a year later the cigars have been released on a nationwide level by Phil Zanghi and distributed by Drew Estate. Cigar: Debonaire Daybreak Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut […]

La Aurora 1987 Connecticut Toro Cigar Review

The La Aurora 1987 Connecticut is part of the time capsule series from the first cigar factory of the Dominican Republic. The cigar joins the 1903 Cameroon and 1962 Corojo and each year represents when La Aurora first used the wrapper in their storied history. The cigars come in four sizes in 20 count boxes Robusto (5 x 50), Churchill (7 x 50), Gran Toro (6 x 58) and today’s review Toro (5 1/2 x 54). […]

Perdomo 20th Anniversary Connecticut Epicure Cigar Review

Changing the band is always a risky move in my opinion and at the trade show Nick Perdomo was proudly showing off the new bands for the 20th Anniversary line. Based on pictures and video, the bands are truly amazing. However, the mindset of the consumer is that a new band equals a change to the cigar. Our friends at Hammer + Sickle went through that when they removed a secondary band that denoted Icon […]

IPCPR 2017: Debonaire

Each week The Cigar Authority podcast serves up a segment called Debonaire. It was handled by Gentleman Chuck Morrison who has moved on to bigger and better things (let’s be honest, he took a step back). Nowadays, the Debonaire segment is handled by Debonaire Mr. Jonathan who was on point today at the trade show in a suit that was an awesome shade of blue (check out his Facebook page). However, the Debonaire segment is second […]

IPCPR 2017: Kristoff

Established in 2004 by Glen Case, Kristoff Cigars is one of the fastest growing boutique manufacturers in the cigar industry.  While the company isn’t offering anything new this year we stopped by the booth where we ran into Jarrid Trudeau the VP of Sales and Glen Case himself. The company has nothing to be pissed off about as the Pistoff Kristoff continues to fly off the shelves along with other great lines from Kristoff. In […]

Charter Oak Connecticut Lonsdale Cigar Review

Today is day 3 of smoking on a budget and we take a look at a relatively new brand that came out less than a year ago. Charter Oak is available in both a Connecticut Shade and Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. It’s made by Foundation Cigar Company which is owned by Nick Melillo who made his name while working for Drew Estate. In naming the cigar, Melillo chose a name that represents the greatest symbol of […]

Undercrown Shade Gran Toro Cigar Review

In 2015 Master Blender Willy Herrera released his first blend for Drew Estate that did not fall under his namesake brand name. To create the Undercrown Shade, Herrera worked closely with the Undercrown roller team that blended the original Undercrown line. The original Undercrown line was developed by rollers who could not smoke the Liga Privada line due to supply issues. Instead, they worked together to create that line that uses similar tobaccos to Liga, […]

Perdomo Habano Bourbon Barrel Aged Connecticut Robusto Cigar Review

A few weeks ago, someone asked me if I would consider posting a review of a cigar we plan to smoking on the podcast the day before it airs. They asked because they wanted to be able to smoke along with the review. It was an interesting idea, so I figure I will run with it the next few weeks and see how it works out and if there is any feedback that backs this individuals […]

Serino Royale Connecticut Torpedo Cigar Review

A wise owl one asked how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop. This morning I asked how many cigar sizes and shapes are there? I’ve seen charts with as many as 72 different sizes. But in reality there are an infinite amount of cigar sizes. We’ve seen Skip Martin release a cigar measuring 11 x 133, and last week Dos Hombres released a 11 x 90 […]
